Georgia Lee Kish is a native Floridian. She grew up on a ranch in N. Central Florida. Her father, an avid hunter and naturalist, taught her the ways of the woods and nature from an early age. The stories she heard as a child that told of virgin timber forests, rivers near the coast thundering with mullet, and flocks of wild parakeets in the woods near Starke sent her imagination into overdrive.
Encounters, with panthers, deer, wild hogs etc. growing up, gave her a respect and perspective on natural Florida that enriches her paintings.
She is a published author, writer, illustrator and is now dedicating her talent to capturing the natural world around her through her paintings.
“I want the paintings that I create to evoke all of the 5 senses. I want the viewer to be able to sense the smells, hear the sounds, feel the sunlight streaming through the trees or taste the saltiness of the air.”
Georgia Lee currently resides with her husband on a portion of the ranch where she grew up. Each day brings a new intensity of imagination and a drive to express her love of Florida’s natural surroundings through her canvas.
“Staring for an hour at a butterfly or watching the light play as the wind blows the moss in a tree is normal for me. I see the different colors, reflections and shapes that make beauty what is. The challenge is to get it onto the canvas and create an image that can arouse and stir the imagination and senses of the viewer.”
